Dear Brothers and Sisters:

            We are proud to announce that all active and retired Indiana Teamsters can now purchase specially designed Indiana Teamsters vanity license plates so that you, your spouse and your family members can all show your pride in being a member of our great Teamsters Family.

            We are also very proud and pleased to announce that the beneficiary of our Teamsters Vanity Plates will be the Indiana FOP Foundation, Inc., which is a not-for-profit corporation established for the purpose of assisting the surviving spouses and dependents of Indiana Police Officers who have been injured or killed in the line of duty.  The $15 charge for each requested vanity plate is being donated to this worthy charity.

            For both of these reasons, we urge you to show solidarity with your fellow Indiana Teamsters and to the Indiana FOP Foundation, Inc., by participating in our program.

            The procedure for this program is as follows:

• You, the Teamsters member or retiree, should go to your Local Union’s office or to the Joint Council’s office to complete an “Indiana Teamsters Local Unions Affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Indiana Teamsters Vanity Plate Application” (“Application”).  You will also need to complete an “Indiana Teamsters Vanity Plate Voucher” (“Voucher”).  You will need to complete a separate Application and Voucher for each vanity plate you wish to purchase.

• Once your completed Application(s) and Voucher(s) are submitted, the Union will verify your membership status.  Once your status has been verified, you will need to submit a certified check or money order in the amount of $15 per vanity plate which should be made payable to: The FOP Foundation c/o the Indiana FOP State Office (unfortunately, personal checks, cash or credit cards cannot be accepted).  Thereafter, your Voucher will be stamped and given back to you. Without the voucher, you will not be able to buy our Teamsters’ vanity plates. 

• Take the voucher to your local Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles facility.  You will need to submit the voucher when you pay your regular fee (for the type of plate) you and/or your family members may be purchasing. The BMV will add its own $15 administrative fee for the processing of each vanity plate purchased.

• There is no limit to the number of vanity plates that you may purchase.  So if you own a car, truck, motorcycle, etc., you can purchase however many plates you want.

• Each time you renew your plates (as required by law) or need a new plate (due to a new vehicle) you will need to follow this process.

• For those of you who have already purchased your 2011 Indiana plates, you can still “swap out” your current plate for a vanity plate for the year 2011.  You would follow the same steps as outlined above with the addition that there is an additional fee of $10 which must be paid to the BMV so that you can “swap out” your old 2011 plate for a new Teamster 2011 vanity plate.
