TRAINING PROGRAMS & COURSES

The Teamsters Local 142 Training & Apprenticeship Center provides training designed to strengthen skills, promote workplace safety, maintain industry qualifications, and support Local 142 members throughout their careers.

TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

Training opportunities may include commercial driver and ELDT instruction, OSHA safety training, HAZWOPER, forklift training, attenuator/TMA training, DOT transportation and safety courses, and additional training based on member and industry needs.

The Teamsters Local 142 Training & Apprenticeship Center provides commercial driver training designed to help members develop the knowledge, skills, and safe driving practices needed to operate commercial motor vehicles.

Training opportunities may include:

  • Class A Commercial Driver License training
  • Class B Commercial Driver License training
  • Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT)
  • Passenger (P) endorsement training
  • Tank Vehicle (N) endorsement training
  • Double/Triple Trailer (T) endorsement training
  • Hazardous Materials (H) endorsement training
  • Commercial vehicle safety, inspection, and driving skills

Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT)

The Training Center provides applicable Entry-Level Driver Training for individuals seeking qualifying commercial driver licenses and endorsements. Training may include classroom or theory instruction, vehicle familiarization, inspection procedures, safe operating practices, and hands-on driving instruction as applicable to the course.

The Teamsters Local 142 Training & Apprenticeship Center provides OSHA safety training designed to help members recognize workplace hazards, understand safe work practices, and strengthen safety awareness in the construction industry.

Training opportunities may include:

  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Training
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Training
  • Hazard recognition and prevention
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Fall protection and construction-site safety
  • Additional OSHA-related safety topics as applicable

OSHA Outreach courses are intended to provide workers with safety and health information relevant to the construction industry. Course availability and scheduling may vary.

The Teamsters Local 142 Training & Apprenticeship Center provides HAZWOPER training for members who may work at hazardous waste sites or in environments where hazardous substances may be encountered.

Training opportunities may include:

  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER initial training
  • HAZWOPER annual refresher training
  • Hazard recognition and hazardous substance awareness
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Site safety and health procedures
  • Decontamination and emergency response awareness

Initial & Refresher Training

Initial HAZWOPER training provides foundational instruction for workers who may be involved in hazardous waste operations. Refresher training helps workers maintain and reinforce required safety knowledge and practices after completing their initial training.

The Teamsters Local 142 Training & Apprenticeship Center provides forklift training designed to help members develop the knowledge and practical skills needed to operate powered industrial trucks safely in the workplace.

Training topics may include:

  • Forklift safety and operator responsibilities
  • Pre-operation inspections
  • Safe starting, stopping, turning, and maneuvering
  • Load handling and stability
  • Operating around pedestrians and workplace hazards
  • Parking and securing equipment
  • Hands-on operating skills and practical evaluation

  • Truck Mounted Attenuator (TMA) equipment and components
  • Pre-operation inspections and equipment checks
  • Safe vehicle positioning and operation
  • Work-zone and roadway hazard awareness
  • Maintaining appropriate following and operating distances
  • Communication and coordination within mobile and stationary work zones
  • Safe deployment, operation, and securing of attenuator equipment
