The Teamsters Local 142 Construction Truck Driver Apprenticeship combines classroom instruction, hands-on training, on-the-job experience, and industry safety education to prepare apprentices for careers in the construction industry.

WHAT DOES A CONSTRUCTION TRUCK DRIVER DO?
Construction truck drivers operate a variety of commercial vehicles used throughout the construction industry. Equipment may include tractor-trailers, flatbed and lowboy trailers, mixer trucks, end dump and side dump trucks, fuel trucks, water trucks, combination vehicles, and straight trucks.
The work involves more than driving. Construction drivers may also be responsible for securing equipment and materials through proper strapping, chaining, and other load-securement methods.
The apprenticeship is designed to prepare individuals for employment in the union construction workforce and requires a two-year commitment to the apprenticeship program.
Authorized to work in the United States.
At least 21 years of age.
High school diploma or GED equivalency.
Possess and maintain a valid driver's license with a clean driving record for the past five years.
Able to obtain a CDL in accordance with Federal and Indiana law.
Reliable transportation.
Physically capable of performing the essential functions of the occupation.
Selected applicants must be able to obtain a DOT medical certificate and pass required DOT pre-employment drug/alcohol testing and physical requirements.
Applicants must submit original documents where required. Staff will make the necessary copies. Photocopies of required original documents will not be accepted.
Proof of age: valid driver's license and original birth certificate.
Social Security card or U.S. Work Authorization Document.
Copy of high school diploma or GED certificate.
Military DD-214, if applicable.
Official driving record dated within seven days of the application date.
Three letters of recommendation, excluding immediate family.
A non-refundable $25 application fee is due when the completed application is dropped off.

Aptitude Testing
Aptitude testing will take place October 20 – October 24, 2026. Applicants will be assigned a testing date and time when their completed application is submitted.
Interviews
Interviews will take place November 2 – November 5, 2026. Applicants selected for an interview will be notified of their assigned date and time.
